Research Organizations
    Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research (MSFHR)
    The Foundation helps BC’s health research community discover solutions to our greatest health challenges; connect knowledge and action on provincial priorities; and engage partners to improve the research enterprise.

    BC Support Unit
    The BC SUPPORT (Support for People and Patient-Oriented Research and Trials) Unit is a multi-partner organization created to support, streamline and increase patient-oriented research throughout BC. The Unit has two main roles: providing services to researchers, patients, health care providers and health system decision makers, and facilitating initiatives identified as provincial priorities.

    BC Academic Health Science Network
    The BC Academic Health Science Network is a relatively new (2016) organization focused on improving patient outcomes in priority areas at a population-based level. The BC Support Unit is part of this overarching organization.

    BC Primary Health Care Research Network (BC-PHCRN)
    Funded through a grant from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) with matching funds from the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research (MSFHR). BC-PHCRN aim to encourage, facilitate, and support collaborations between government, health authorities, health professionals, patients and researchers.

    Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIRH)
    CIHR is Canada’s federal funding agency for health research. Composed of 13 Institutes, they collaborate with partners and researchers to support the discoveries and innovations that improve health and strengthen the health care system.
