ARNBC continues to grow as more and more Registered Nurses around the province recognize the need for an advocacy voice for nursing in British Columbia. Please continue to encourage your colleagues to join us as we move to strengthen nursing in B.C. Your voice is our strength!
The first election for the ARNBC Board of Directors was held in early May, with an exceptional list of candidates choosing to stand for positions. Thank you to all who participated in this important stage of the Association's development. Five new board members were elected through electronic ballot and five current directors have committed to remaining until 2013. Profiles of the 2012-2013 Board can be viewed on the AGM & Elections webpage. Many thanks to our outgoing Board Members – we look forward to continuing our relationship with you in the months and years to come.
Annual General Meeting
The first Annual General Meeting of the ARNBC was held on May 9, 2012. Events were broadcast to a local audience in Vancouver's Paetzold Auditorium and via webcast to nurses across the province. ARNBC provided a summary of 2011-2012 activities and shared some preliminary findings from the province wide consultations. The open forum provided an opportunity for all nurses to ask questions or make comments. A recording of the webcast can be viewed on the AGM & Elections webpage. We encourage all who attended live or via webcast to take our two-minute survey and help us make next year's AGM even better.
Nursing Week Activities
Along with the AGM, many other nursing week events provided opportunity to connect with new and familiar faces as we made the rounds to speak with groups of nurses and students and participated in nursing week exhibits. As we connect with nurses across B.C., we are continuously reminded of what amazing things nurses can accomplish when they come together to share, learn and teach. Happy belated nursing week to those of you we didn't see!
Thank you to all of the B.C. nurses who participated and supported the consultation process over the past few months. Creative and informed discussions occurred in numerous communities, contributing to the vision of the future for our association. The final report will be posted on the ARNBC website and will be used to guide the ARNBC in the future. If you are interested in continuing the discussion, please visit www.arnbc.ca/consultations/get-involved.php and share your feedback with us.
